The Heights Foundation’s School Supply Outreach Helps Nearly 500 Children

The Heights Foundation/The Heights Center’s annual school supply outreach was held on Saturday, July 28.  Individuals, businesses, churches, and organizations provided school supplies and volunteered.  The outreach provided backpacks and school supplies for nearly 500 children low-income children living in the Harlem Heights neighborhood.

“We are so excited that every child in Harlem Heights has the necessary supplies to succeed in school,” said Kathryn Kelly, president and CEO of The Heights Foundation. “The poverty rate for children in Harlem Heights is more than twice the county average. Many parents cannot provide all the things their student will need.  The volunteers and donors who support this effort will ensure that our kids go back to school ready to learn.”
