Chefs in Shorts Benefits Heights Culinary Center

The Harlem Heights DSCN0314Center kicked off its inaugural Culinary Series with Chefs in Shorts on Thursday, October 3.  The area’s finest chefs presented  fun, funky Floribbean fare to benefit the Heights Culinary Center.

Participating chefs included Chef Todd Johnson of Rumrunners, Chef Brian Roland of Crave Culinaire, Chef Marbin Avilez of Firestone, Chef Melissa Talmage of Sweet Melissa’s and Chef Richie Montoya of Fish Tale Grill By Merrick Seafood.  Stefanie’s Sweet Confections provided cupcakes and Wicked Dolphin Rum offered tastings.

Thanks also to Doug MacGregor who provided the signature artwork for the event and to our chefs who were great sports and participated in our “Best Legs” contest!

The Heights Culinary Center will be a commercial teaching kitchen, located within The Heights Center, a 14,000 square-foot facility in the Harlem Heights community.

DSCN0324 The Heights Culinary Center will provide family self-sufficiency and development through workforce training, entrepreneurship, and community feeding programs.   For more information call (239) 482-7706.
